Workplace Violence:
Reports of workplace is at an all-time high, especially in the healthcare industry. Sadly, due to the culture of the healthcare industry, many healthcare workers believe it is part of the job. I am here to tell you that it is not part of the job. As a healthcare worker, you come to work to serve and care for others, not to be verbally and physically abused.
Regardless of the field you work in, there are signs that we can all work to recognize in our coworkers and those we serve that will provide pre-contact or pre-assault indicators to violence. As humans, we tend to be our own worst advocate and often ignore our intuition when it comes to pre-assault indicators. Ignoring an escalating problem does not make it go away. There are things we can do ensure a safer work environment. Every escalating event is a potential flashpoint for a workplace violence or active killer event. Does your company, school, house of worship have a plan to train your staff on how to appropriately de-escalate or mitigate these events? If not, we can help.
Active Killer Events: CRASE (Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events) Course
The deadliest event we may ever face in the workplace is an active killer event. Over the years, we’ve observed response times shorten and the capabilities of law enforcement increase. As a result of increased public awareness, many citizens have asked what individuals can do protect themselves and reduce the dangers faced during one of these events. Avoid | Deny | Defend™ has been developed as an easy to remember method for individuals to follow – as we’ve seen that hiding and hoping isn’t a very effective strategy.
Knowing what to do during the critical time it takes law enforcement to arrive is paramount to stopping or mitigating the killing of our coworkers and those we serve. Please contact us for training for your business, school, house of worship or event. Working together is how we will ensure we can do our part in making sure as many people as possible make it home safely. Remember, never ignore your intuition. If you see something, say something.
Other training includes but is not limited to:
- Hand To Hand Combat Training
